Thusendra De Zoysa is a prolific cricketer in Sri Lankan indoor cricket. At this moment he is knocking the door to enter the England’s indoor cricket.
When the Sri Lankan team became runners-up in Indoor Cricket World Cup 2005 he was awarded a man of the series. Now he is playing for the Blackrod Cricket Club and serving as a coach as well.
How did you start cricket?
I had a bad debut in my school period. I got a chance to represent inter club tournament due to my dedication and practices.
How did you start indoor cricket?
First Indoor Cricket World Cup held in 2002. I was a member of Sri Lankan team. Also I was able to represent Sri Lankan team in Indoor Cricket World Cup 2005.
Could your team win the championship?
We were able to get runners-up. I was awarded as a man of the series. When the series over I was ranked first place.
Why didn’t you attend for the Test matches?
I prefer to get in to test matches. I attended inter provincial competition. But I missed the opportunity.
Which team did you represent in Inter Club Tournament?
I represent Chilaw Marians Cricket Club in 2002 up to 2007. I was able to become the best batsman under 23. After that I represent BRC Cricket Club in 2008.
Review your self in brief?
My native place is Erawwala. I studied at Dharmapala Vidyalaya. I am playing cricket as my profession.
How did you join England?
After seeing my performance the Blackrod Cricket Club invited me to join with them. Now I am serving as a coach.
Do you think you have already qualified for being a coach?
Yes. Absolutely. I have passed grade 2 coaching exam.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to be a best player and also I wish to be a member of England National Indoor Cricket team.
How do you expect to serve your motherland?
I hope to serve my motherland as a good coach in future.
