Jagath is the first Sri Lankan who was selected in International Wheelchair Tennis Federation Coaches Commission member for Wheel Chair Tennis.
Every two years the IWTA Member Nations will be asked to submit nominations for the Coaches Commission. This year Jagath Welikala from Sri Lanka was selected to this Commission.
This Coaches Commission is a subcommittee of the International Wheelchair Tennis Association and they discuss issues related to coaches and coaching in wheelchair tennis. The Commission usually meets once a year at the Invacare World Team Cup.
The aim of this commission is to have the most knowledgeable and experienced coaches on the commission.
